Where the idea came from
Pet Gatekeeper is inspired by Cat Gatekeeper, a Chrome extension by @konekone2026 that interrupts doomscrolling with a quick cat video. The idea is simple and it works — we wanted to take it one step further.
Cat Gatekeeper ships with a fixed cast of cats. We wanted anyone to be able to use their own pet, so we built the creation side: one photo turns into a transparent intro + loop the extension can play.

How the extension and the site work together
The extension does the gatekeeping. The site makes the pets. They're independent — you can use either alone — but together they let your real pet stop your real scroll.
